Child Care

Many of you are bringing children to the Kalachakra, so they receive its immense and unique blessing. We would like to provide some useful information for you.

If you bring a baby stroller with you, please check it in at the area designated for that on the Main Concourse (entry level).

The VW theater on Concourse 4 of Verizon Center is available for you. It offers a place to take your children when they become restless or noisy, or just want a bit of a break. We are happy to offer this service at no charge, but are unable to care for unaccompanied children (you must stay with your children while they are there). To find the VW theater, go to the 400 Level, by section 429, and you will find the VW theater via the double-doors on the outside wall. There is a lobby area for play and an indoor theater-style area for sitting quietly (the back rows are suitable for nursing mothers, using shawls for further privacy).

Drop-off childcare for children between 4 and 12 years of age is available at the Sixth and I Historic Synagogue, which is only 2 blocks from Verizon (http://www.sixthandi.org/) . A wonderful, thoughtful, and entertaining program will be provided by a local firm called "Kids Adventures."

We wanted to ensure the best "drop-off" childcare program possible. Because of licensing requirements, etc, and the unusual nature of this event (lasting 11 days, with a schedule changing each day), it has taken a while to finalize a plan, but we are confident your children will really enjoy the one we chose.

Please pre-register your child and or children by emailing http://www.kidsadventures.net/ any time after 5 pm Thursday, June 30.

We are happy to announce that the Capital Area Tibetan Association will subsidize the payments due to Kids Adventures by 50%, so the charge to parents will be only $2.50 per hour, per child. You can pay that to the through check or cash (no credit cards). You can register your child for one day, or any number of days.

You can find more information on this childcare option at the Information Desk in the Main Concourse.

General Assistance Fund

Note: General Assistance Fund is now closed.

Due to the generosity of our sponsors and supporters, we were able to offer assistance
to those who want to attend the Kalachakra but are "financially challenged."

Note: We offered assistance only with admission tickets, not with travel, food, or lodging.
